Dr. Carrier, a researcher/clinician whose expertise is in impotence, has been associated with the Jewish General since 1995. He is internationally renowned for his work in the prevention and treatment of sexual dysfunction following surgery for prostate cancer. Almost all men who undergo treatment for prostate cancer — be it surgery, radiation or hormone therapy — experience some changes in sexual function. Dr. Carrier is involved in research aimed at refining both surgical and radiation- therapy techniques so that sexual dysfunction can be minimized or avoided. He is the past -chair of the Canadian Male Sexual Health Council and serves on the board of the Canadian Society for the Study of the Aging Male.

Dr Carrier has published more than 50 articles in peer- reviewed publications as well as several book chapters.
