Overview

Established in 2003, the Gynecologic Oncology program at the Segal Cancer Centre is dedicated to the treatment and improvement of care of patients with gynecologic tumors. Board certified gynecologic oncologists, fellows, residents, medical students, and specialized nurses provide state of the art care with the support of a dedicated administrative group. Daily clinics are offered to detect, diagnose, follow, and treat gynecologic tumors, including surgery, chemotherapy, and supportive care. Weekly multidisciplinary tumour board conferences are held where the Center’s team members bring innovative perspectives and expertise to the discussion of individual patients in order to elaborate the best treatment options available.

The team is heavily involved in basic research in the Gyn-Onc molecular laboratory at the Lady Davis Insitute, and since 2007, they have pioneered the introduction and evaluation of computer assisted “Robotic” surgery, and have become leaders in the use of this minimal invasive technology. Multiple scientific studies on robotics in gynecologic oncology, performed by the team, show improved outcome and satisfaction, reduced hospitalization, shorter recovery, better quality of life, and decreased cost.
