Volunteering

The Jewish General Hospital (JGH), which has been serving the public since 1934, aims to provide the highest quality of care and services in a safe environment. To achieve this goal every day, dozens of dynamic volunteers make a difference in the lives of patients, other healthcare users and visitors, while providing assistance to hospital staff.

Would you be interested in contributing to the well-being of patients and their families, while presenting the public with a positive image of the hospital? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in a healthcare setting, while making a difference in the lives of others?

The JGH is looking for energetic volunteers, including students, who are eager to provide assistance in a wide range of services and departments, including Administration, clinics, Geriatrics, laboratories, Outpatient Medicine, Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care, Emergency, Pre-/Post-Operative Units and the Test Centre.

Volunteers are also needed in pet therapy, the Health Sciences Library, Psychiatry and Mental Health,  Hope & Cope,  the HELP program,  the VIP program and many other areas.

Volunteering at the JGH, especially for students, is a unique opportunity to interact with patients and clients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Your involvement will help you develop skills that could be useful in completing your graduate studies or obtaining a job.

Please note
The JGH offers flexible hours, seven days a week as well as evenings. If you are accepted as a volunteer, you will receive proper training for the tasks to which you will be assigned. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
