Patient Information Session

Being diagnosed with cancer is devastating. Fear, anxiety, anger, helplessness are just some feelings people experience when first being told about this devastating disease.

Patients have many questions and concerns. The Patient Information Sessions help prepare patients for their care at the Jewish General Hospital's Radiation Oncology Division by providing a better understanding of what to expect during their treatment.

They are an important first step in understanding the different stages a patient will undertake during his treatment in Radiation Oncology.

Information sessions are offered on a weekly basis by a professional member of the Radiation Oncology Division. If a patient cannot attend, it is strongly encouraged that a family member, friend or caregiver attend in their place.

Information sessions will:

  • introduce the different professionals involved in patient care
  • provide an overview of the steps involved when undergoing radiation oncology treatment and provide explanation of the different types of radiation oncology treatments
  • offer recommendations on how patient can take care of themselves during their treatments
  • provide a tour of the facility

Sessions are offered in English on Tuesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and in French on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in conference room G.18-102 (basement level).

To register, call 514-340-8288 or 514-340-8111, and dial 0.
