Pharmacists

The Jewish General Hospital Emergency Department has 2 full-time pharmacists with a Master’s degree in Hospital Pharmaceutical Care.

Our pharmacists are dedicated to providing quality pharmaceutical care to patients visiting the Emergency Department. Pharmacists are available for consultation on a wide range of drug-related topics: antibiotic use, drug use in pregnancy/breastfeeding, drug interactions, drug selection, drug decisions based on efficacy, toxicology, etc.

In affiliation with the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Pharmacy, Emergency Department pharmacists supervise pharmacy students at all levels, as well as pharmacy residents who wish to pursue their career in the hospital setting. Our pharmacists also have the opportunity to regularly attend Emergency and Pharmacy conferences as well as other continuing education activities.

As an integral part of the Pharmacy Team, 2 full-time dedicated Pharmacy Technical Assistants ensure timely delivery of drugs to patients and are responsible to stock all the nursing units with the appropriate medications. Patient safety regarding medication use is of great importance in the

Emergency Department. Pharmacists work closely with Nurses and Physicans to ensure safe prescribing, dispensing, administration and monitoring of medications.
