Overview

By conducting vital diagnostic evaluations of all tissues removed from patients, JGH Pathologists play a pivotal role in establishing accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans. Pathologists facilitate patient care by acting as consultants to physicians and surgeons.

The areas of expertise of the department include neuropathology, gynecologic pathology and cytology, hematopathology, nephropathology, gastroenterology, endocrine pathology, ENT pathology and dermatopathology.

The department also has a division of Cytology, which is staffed by five Cytotechnologists who receive a high volume of gynecological and non-gynecological samples for examination and screening.
