Azrieli Heart Centre Early Progressive Mobility Program

The Azrieli Heart Centre's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit has put together a structured nurse-driven Early Progressive Mobilization Program for its users. This initiative helps users passing through the unit to maintain and regain their functional status early on during their hospital stay.

The program is currently being adapted to be used in other acute care units, such as the Cardiovascular Unit. The collaboration of users and family members is crucial for its success in helping you regain mobility, and staff will likely ask you to help in conducting mobility exercises throughout the day.

The staff will hand you a pamphlet during your stay explaining how to perform the exercises safely and at what frequency. Videos are also available on the JGH website explaining each exercise. The use of these supporting materials is free and they are available for immediate download on your device.

Please don't hesitate in asking your nurse to help with performing the exercises planned for each day, and help you access the supporting pamphlet and videos.

Access the  supporting material for the program, including user and family pamphlets as well as English and French videos.
