COVID Stories: A tribute to our healthcare workers

The COVID-19 pandemic created unprecedented challenges for patients, their families, hospitals and healthcare staff throughout the world. In recognition of this landmark situation, the Jewish General Hospital’s Humanization of Care (HOC) Committee has collected testimonials from patients and from family members whose loved ones were admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19. The 23-page publication, prepared in collaboration with the CIUSSS’s Directorate of Quality, Transformation, Evaluation, Performance and Ethics, describes the positive experiences of hospitalized patients and the role of medical staff in providing them with care.

COVID Stories: A tribute to our healthcare workers in the voices of those most thankful brings to life the touching, shocking, humourous and ultimately life-affirming incidents that occurred during the patients’ hospital stay. These compelling and remarkable tales also demonstrate how the decisions of staff reflected and respected the patients’ preferences, needs and values. As well, they stories remind us of the seriousness of the battle against the virus
