Vaccination passport screening now underway to enter health and social services facilities – some exemptions apply

We wish to remind you that the vaccination passport system is now in effect at all of the province’s healthcare and social services facilities—including every site in CIUSSS West-Central Montreal. Proof of vaccination—i.e., a vaccination passport—has to be presented, along with photo identification, to enter our buildings.

It is important to emphasize that this policy does not apply to people receiving care, residents in long-term care facilities and healthcare workers* (until November 15, as per a recently-announced government decision to extend the deadline for healthcare workers).

Some other exemptions include, but are not limited to:

  • People accompanying children under age 14, people giving birth, or people incapable of consenting to the care their state of health requires
  • People with loved ones in end-of-life care
  • A person accompanying another person who, for health or safety reasons, requires assistance that the facility is unable to provide
  • Operators of intermediate and family-type resources whose primary residence is the resource itself, as well as members of their families who live there

For the full list of exemptions and for more information, please refer to

The new procedures may lead to delays in entering our facilities. If you are coming to any of our sites in the coming days, please take this into consideration and arrive a little earlier to ensure that you have enough time to be screened.

These measures will help protect the health and well-being of all members of our community and are critical in our effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. Thank you in advance for your understanding and collaboration.
