Dr. Sheldon Elman

Montreal family doctor and health care innovator Dr. Sheldon Elman has been named President of the Jewish General Hospital Corporation.

In his new role, Dr. Elman is committed to preserving the unique and foundational culture of the storied acute-care institution. Working closely with other key figures in our hospital’s leadership, Dr. Elman will support the hospital’s mission to deliver the safest and most effective care. He will also foster ties with the communities served by the JGH, so that our teams can meet the ever-evolving healthcare needs of our users, paramount among these, access to timely and quality services.

Dr. Elman brings decades of expertise as both a family physician and a visionary entrepreneur. He was one of the first clinicians formally trained at the JGH Herzl Family Medicine Department. Since then, his medical practice centred on preventive medicine, integrated care, and other key frontline principles.

This direct clinical experience underpinned Dr. Elman’s accomplished background as a corporate leader in the field. He built and stewarded a national corporate healthcare provider and co-founded Canada’s largest healthcare-focused private equity fund. In addition, he established a digital health venture fund, enabling collaboration on transformative projects across the world.

These ventures have been complemented by active membership in Canada’s business, social and healthcare communities, which have honoured Dr. Elman with entrepreneurial awards and benefited from his philanthropy.

Join us in welcoming Dr. Elman.
