Salvatore Di Maio is a skull base neurosurgeon at the Jewish General Hospital. He is an assistant professor in the department of neurosurgery and associate member in the department of oncology at McGill University.
He attended medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed his neurosurgical training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He also received in-residency training in endoscopic skull base surgery under Paolo Cappabianca in Naples, Italy, followed by clinical fellowship in skull base and cerebrovascular surgery with Dr. Laligam Sekhar at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA.
Dr. Di Maio specializes in open and minimally invasive procedures for skull base tumours, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, pituitary tumours, and neuro-oncology.
Dr. Di Maio is part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Jewish General Hospital that specializes and actively aims for best possible treatment of patients with brain, pituitary and skull base tumours, including radiation oncologists, endocrinologists, intra-operative neurophysiologic monitoring technicians, medical neuro-oncologists, neurologists, nurse clinicians, nurse navigators (“infirmières pivot”), psychologists, social workers, and occupational and physical therapists.
