1. High Care Area (HCA)
The High Care Area is an eight bed, multidisciplinary unit designed to provide an intensive observation assessment and treatment setting in a safe environment for severely disturbed patients.
The High Care Area deals with those patients who are most disturbed or at risk for harm to self and/or others. The size and function of the HCA makes it an important setting to facilitate the appropriate choice of biopsychosocial interventions and the assessment of their effectiveness.
The U.T.T. (Unité de Traitement Transitoire) is an eight bed, multidisciplinary unit designed to provide a rapid evaluation and treatment for patients who are in the midst of a crisis requiring an in-patient safe setting and those who are at risk for harm to self and/or others.
Admissions, discharges and transfers to U.T.T. can be effected 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
The U.T.T. is actively involved in the training of Medical, Nursing and Social Service Students.
The ward proper consists of 32 beds divided into 2 general psychiatric teams and a 10-bedded geriatric psychiatry team specializing in comorbid medical and psychiatric conditions.
