Evidence-Based Medical Care

First year residents at the HFPC participate in Evidence-Based Medical Care, a weekly seminar unique at McGill. It promotes the practice of family medicine based on integration of current best evidence with patient preferences in decision-making. Evidence for the effectiveness of this curriculum can be reviewed online at:  http://www.stfm.org/fm2001/sep01/re1.pdf. The Center also provides access to various electronic databases for information to address clinical questions in a time-efficient manner. Some of these tools are: InfoRetriever, The Cochrane Library, MD Consult and Scientific American Medicine. In addition, the staff at the H.F.P.C. is active in family medicine research through its research division.
