Rita Schulman, M.Ed, c.o. is a psychoanalyst and member of the faculty of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society, Quebec English Branch. She is on the Youth Service staff, Department of Psychiatry, Sir Mortimer B. Davis - Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. She is also on the faculty of the Marital and Family Therapy training program and is an accredited supervisor, American Association of Marital and Family Therapy, as well as a member of the Ordre Professionnel des Travailleurs Sociaux du Quebec, marital and family therapy division.

In addition she has a clinical private practice. She has written the chapter On Friendship, in the volume Good Feelings: Pschoanalytic Reflections on Positive Emotions and Attitudes, editied by Salman Akhtar (IPA publications, in press). She has co-edited the volume, On Friendship, (International Universities Press, in press).

Her publications include Psychotherapy and Religion-A Paradox?, International Journal of Applied Psychonalytic Studies, Vol. 1, No. 1, pg. 73-81, 2004. and book reviews, Relevance of the Family to Psychoanalytic Theory, by Theodore Lidz, (Canadian Journal of Psychoanalysis, Vol. 4, No. 1, May, 1996, pg. 195-198) and Menstruation and Psychoanalysis, by Mary Jane Lupton, (Transcultural Psychiatric Review, Vol. XXXIII, No. 4, 1996, pg. 486-491). She coauthored the paper, Women and Professional Ambition which wasdelivered at the International Psychoanalytic Congress, Amsterdam (1993).
