A successful first: Annual General Meeting of Jewish General Hospital and JGH Foundation combined into a single event

Montreal, September 19, 2017 – For the first time in its 83-year history, the Jewish General Hospital and the Jewish General Hospital Foundation combined their Annual General Meetings into one event, where it was announced that Foundation revenues for the year ending March 31, 2017, totalled $40 million, of which $30 million was transferred to the hospital, while the balance is supporting the Foundation’s endowment.

Allen F. Rubin, Past President of the JGH, received the hospital's prestigious Distinguished Service Award, while Pierre Brosseau and Ronnie Steinberg were honoured with the Foundation's Outstanding Service Award.

Howard Dermer and Edward Wiltzer were re-elected for a second term as the hospital’s President and the Foundation’s Chair, respectively. Dr. Mark Wainberg, the internationally recognized HIV pioneer who died tragically earlier this year, was remembered in a moving video tribute, and Dr. Arthur Rosenberg was hounoured for his 52 years of continuous service in the JGH Division of Hematology.

Mr. Wiltzer pledged "that the Foundation will fortify its efforts, so that the Jewish General Hospital can continue its leadership role in providing outstanding medical services to the people of Quebec."
